My name is Kyle Pipkin and I am eighteen years old and dedicated to making a difference in our community. I have lived in Irvington and Grand Bay Alabama and attended Alma Bryant High School in Bayou La Batre, Alabama. As a senior at Alma Bryant I became involved in the organization Big Brothers and Big Sisters and we visited area elementary schools and I became a friend to many children. I witnessed the lives of many children and my heart was broken. It was during this time that I decided that I was not too small to make a difference in our community. I partnered with Small Wonders Childcare and Learning center and I am the theater director for the summer program at Small Wonders childcare. Last year, we reached over 80 children through the after school program and I taught almost every one of those children in Theatrical arts. I also worked throughout the entire center with a total of 135 children. As you know, more adequately than I do, many families have been impacted th! rough their jobs, life, and familial bond as a result of the oil spill. Through one-on-one time with each child I build trust between me and the child and they believe in me. I teach each child the 4 basics of theater: Acting, Lights, Sound, and choreography, in which I then put them into one of the categories and let them specialize in that subject.
